Why SEM? Author: Michael Black, President Why SEM? People use search engines to find what they are looking for all the time, all day long. In fact, 85% of people online use a search engine when trying to locate a product, service, or information. Most users will not look past the first page of the search results. If your site doesn’t show up in the first page of search engine listings, you’re missing out on the vast majority of Internet users. What is SEM? What is SEM you ask? SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. It’s a very calculated process of making a website the most enticing and digestible to search engines that it can be. The process begins by conducting detailed research on how your target audience searches for your product or service. Based on this research, phrases which will work best for you are identified and then used throughout your site to make sure you are considered an “expert” in your product or service’s field. The search engines use very complex algorithms to determine what your site is about and how important your site is to it's niche. Methods used a few years ago to trick the engines, won’t work anymore. In fact, certain outdated methods will cause almost irreparable harm to your site. Who needs SEM? As the economy continues its recovery, more and more people are starting websites to augment their traditional businesses. Anybody can make a website, but it takes a professional to get your site to the top of the listings. Anyone that has a website and wants to capture a share of the Internet market needs to have their site optimized. Most searchers won’t continue to browse the results much farther than 10 listings. If you aren’t there, chances are, you won’t get traffic. You’re competition is optimizing their way to the top -- why aren’t you? Let the professionals of Internet Marketing Resources, Inc. help your site reach top positioning! Back to the article list
