Content is King Author: Michael Black, President Content is king on the Internet… it always will be. This is because the Internet is the largest source of information known to man, and most people on the net are searching though this mass of information for something specific. The information on a website is its content. In most cases, the more interesting and entertaining the content of a website is, the more successful the site will be. When users find the content on a site useful, they will come back for more, especially when that information is frequently updated. You may be thinking “Wait a minute… Products are the king of the internet, not content!” Not so fast… If you simply target your site to a specific product you’re missing the point. People won’t find your site unless they happen to find your product by chance on a search engine. Most searchers on the net will visit multiple sites until they find a site with the most information about the product they want. If you gear your site towards all aspects of the product by using keyword-rich content pages, you have a better chance of converting someone from a “searcher” to a "buyer". Now that you understand that content is king, you need to have high quality, READABLE content on your site. Your site shouldn’t have volumes of technical jargon, but rather text that expresses voice and personality. One specialty of my company, Internet Marketing Resources, Inc., is creating content that fits that bill. The content needs to be easy to read, easy to understand, and not so lengthy that it’s intimidating. We will also assist you in organizing this information to best suit both the search engines, and your visitors. One important, often overlooked, factor of website content is that it needs to be updated and kept fresh. To attain the best results, you need to make sure your site’s content is updated regularly. Doing this assures the highest search engine rankings possible, and it also makes sure that returning visitors don’t get bored with your site and go elsewhere. If you are great at creating products, and wonderful at communicating with engineers and designers but not the masses, you need a professional’s help pitching your product on the web. And, you’re in luck! There are literally thousands of sources for content creation on the web. When choosing a company to assist you with content creation, be sure check out the company's past work. Before committing, you need to review their product to make sure that it’s not full of grammatical errors, and to be sure that they can freely write content for any topic before continuing. If your content looks unprofessional, your company looks unprofessional. One final note --Content creation needs to be centered on a very specific set of rules and phrases to be most effective. Creation of specifically targeted content for your site is best left to professionals, like the ones at Internet Marketing Resources, Inc. Back to the article list
